The Space Walk

Dial Books for Young Readers, 2019.

My first standalone picture book.

Books come from weird places. I woke up one morning in 2013 with this idea to write a story about a guy going for a walk. Just a normal regular walk around the block. Waves at neighbors, strolls around. So the words would depict the walk like that, while the pictures would reveal that he was, in fact, an astronaut, and the walk he was taking was anything but normal.
The Space Walk is the book that came from that initial idea. Created in 2017-2018 and published October 2019. All final art was made in Photoshop. Be sure to check out the videos below.

Reviews:
"An effervescent outing with a refreshingly (or, in some quarters, distressingly) subversive message." --Kirkus

"[K]ids will revel in the beautiful displays along with the quick and efficient story." --BCCB

"Readers will relate, as Biggs's digital illustrations (cheekily described in the art note on the copyright page) picture space as a vibrantly colorful wonderland where new friends await and boredom is busted by simply exploring the outdoors." --Horn Book

Update 20 April 2023: The Space Walk is soon to be out of print. If you want this book (which you do) and can’t find it, send me an email or you can buy a signed copy from me here.
